Founded in 1888, Wichita Children’s Home is the only facility that offers emergency, temporary residential care for children in Wichita. In the holiday spirit of giving, POD Print recently designed, produced, and donated a variety of stickers, journals, and coloring books.
In this post, we’ll give you a behind-the-scenes peek at the process of creating the journals.
Journals are so personal and meaningful to children (of all ages, really), but they are also simple to produce. First, we print the interior black-and-white lined pages separate from the covers and trim them down to size.
We designed several covers to span ages and interests. Next, we printed those in color and then laminated them for extra durability in young hands.
A paper-punching machine makes the holes for a plastic coil, which is added by hand.
Once assembled, a variety of journal designs are finished up and ready for all the kids’ thoughts and doodles!
We heard that they typically have extra needs for teens, so we also created complex coloring books for them. These were printed, folded, and stapled all in one step. After packaging them with colored pencils, POD Print donated them as well.
Last but not least, stickers are a hit with any age! We designed several odds and ends to include in our donation. The stickers are high-quality vinyl, die-cut to shape. These will inevitably appear everywhere!
