Tell us a bit about what you do at POD Print.
Grace: I am the co-owner and over the years my primary responsibility was sales. However, I have worn many hats, as have many small business owners, and at one point was Production Manager.
Jim: At this stage I am retired, and basically just look and listen and like everything I see and hear. Only occasionally do I comment.
How long have you been with POD Print?
Grace: Since the early nineties.
Jim: I have been here 42 years.
What memorable project(s) have you been involved with?
Grace: I think the most memorable is the one we are working on now—the SmileShare program.
Although a couple of years ago we helped with a convention for BigDog Mowers and that was great fun! We did lots of things besides just print for the convention.
Jim: Starting this company in 1978 is the most memorable! We have constantly reinvented ourselves, going from the original Kopy King to Advanced Data Reproductions to POD Print.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Grace: I love to read and travel. I plan a lot of my own trips and enjoy that part of it almost as much as the actual travel! Spending time with my family is always fun, too.
Jim: Walking, running, fixing things, and best of all, driving my race car.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
Grace: The people that make up our team. They are awesome and the best team you could ever find!
Jim: The people! We have the most wonderful people at POD Print.
What’s the one most important piece of printing
advice you have to share?
Grace: The more information you have about what you want makes the process flow more smoothly. But we have great designers and people with editing and layout knowledge, so we have lots of resources to help you too.
Jim: Details. It’s all about the details!
What motivates you to get up and go to work?
Grace: I really enjoy the business and being involved in it. It is hard to imagine it not being a part of our lives.
When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?
Grace: Grabbing a good book is always a great way to pass the time!
What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
Grace: I think pretty much anything that could be considered a chore!
If you could meet anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?
Grace: I would love to be able to go back and meet some of my ancestors.
What would you say is your best quality?
Grace: I am very organized and like to think I am a get-er-done type of person.
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
Grace: Enjoy every day you have, and don’t worry so much!
